Freycinet PavilionsFreycinet, TasmaniaTourism Status – Completed Freycinet Lodge is located in one the most beautiful landscapes on earth. With the landscape as the inspiration, the creation and development was a collaborative team effort. Owned by RACT Destinations, designed by Liminal Architecture, constructed by Cordwell Lane builders the project was delivered on time and on budget with Brett as lead. Navigating conceptualisation, research, community consultation, planning and regulatory pathways, design and construction the project delivered nine magnificent Coastal Pavilions, six Mountain Terrace rooms and one dynamic access suite. Liminal’s inspired design has been recognised globally, being shortlisted for the Dezeen Awards and the World Architecture Awards. |

152 CeresMacquarie Street, Hobart, TasmaniaCommercial Development Ceres is located at 152 Macquarie Street between Harrington and Murray Streets. Looking south there are excellent views over St Davids Park, Salamanca and out to the river and eastern shore. To the sunny north are full views of North Hobart and the mountain. The building is currently fully tenanted. Redevelopment is planned. The concept includes four additional levels of penthouse living, new elevators, a roof-top swimming pool, a new façade, upgraded commercial areas, bathrooms and foyers. |

Waterview RidgeMt Martha, VictoriaResidential development Jointly project managed with Wallis Watson Project Management 35 hectares with amazing views over Port Phillip Bay. It has been landscaped by a local community group who assists young people at risk; they collected seeds from the site and from nearby bushland and propagated the trees themselves. There was also extensive consultation with the local bushland group Friends of Sunshine Creek. All Waterview Ridge homes have water tanks to recycle greywater, saving about 17.5 million litres of drinking water each year.The lots have averaged a sale price of around $365,000 each. It is expected that most properties in Waterview Ridge will be in the $1M-plus range. |

Benton GrangeMornington, VictoriaResidential Development Jointly project managed with Wallis Watson Project Management This rural residential development near Mornington has more than 20 per cent of its area dedicated to open space and a serpentine wetland designed to retain biodiversity and improve water quality in nearby Balcombe Creek.Good pedestrian access was a priority, and walkways connect the estate to the adjoining Summerfields Estate, the new primary school and a shopping centre.In 2001 Benton Grange received a Judges’ Commendation from the Urban Development Institute of Australia (UDIA) for its innovative approach to the environment, which solved an existing drainage problem. |

Orchard GroveHastings, VictoriaResidential Development Project managed all aspects of the development The streetlights at Orchard Grove have been fitted with solar panels – this is the first time in Australia that a residential subdivision has been built with a grid-connected solar system. It was launched by the Hon. John Thwaites, Minister for the Environment. Covenants require all houses to have a four-star energy rating and a solar hot water service. The Green is planted with a community lemon grove, rosemary bushes, and indigenous trees and shrubs. It has a solar shelter, children’s playground and seating decorated with hand-made tiles made by local students. The estate has increased land values in Hastings, which have traditionally been lower than those of the rest of the Mornington Peninsula.Won the Judges’ commendation from the Urban Development Institute of Australia (UDIA) for Residential Development of 199 lots or fewer. |

SummerfieldsMornington, VictoriaResidential Development Jointly project managed with Wallis Watson Project Management Summerfields is an estate in the fast-growing Mornington area. It has 4.4 hectares of public park that was jointly created through a partnership between the Mornington Peninsula Shire and the developers. The estate has water features with aquatic plants to improve the stormwater quality, bushland, a playground, a picnic area, a wetland boardwalk, an architect-designed lookout and an outdoor classroom. The GrangeMornington, VictoriaResidential Development Jointly project managed with Wallis Watson Project Management A boutique estate with blossom trees in its streetscape that compliment the carefully preserved, 120-year-old cherry plum trees. Footpaths through the estate form part of the pedestrian circuit, making it easy to walk to the nearby shopping centre and new primary school. |

SolisOrford, TasmaniaTourism and residential development sourced project managed concept and planning process 500 components Planning the Solis project took two-and-a-half years. It brought together all the sustainability measures we had trialed in may other projects, and the Solis Sustainability Policy set a new benchmark for development in Tasmania. The local community was extensively involved in the development. There is a golf course designed by Greg Norman with club house and accommodation, 330 residential lots, a health retreat, shops, apartments, a museum, jetty, extensive walkways – all set on 700 acres overlooking Prosser Bay and Maria Island. |

Davey StreetHobartResidential project Renovation Ardglen is a heritage-listed property, built in 1911 by Henry Jones Rosevear Architects worked closely with Brett Torossi to design an impressive modern extension with extremely intricate detail, leaving the existing fabric of the building intact. The project was awarded the 2007 Royal Australian Institute of Architects for alterations and additions. The citation for the award reads: ‘A heritage-listed villa of Edwardian pedigree has been reinvigorated throughout culminating in the addition of a new kitchen and living area to the rear. The elegance and precision of the contemporary architecture heightens an appreciation and respect for its host through differentiation.’ |

Peter Kent EstateSomerville, VictoriaResidential development Project managed A boutique estate which owes its shape and charm to Peter Kent,who resolved numerous engineering issues created by the site’s two dams and its covering of mature pine trees. Major earthworks created gently sloping building lots with ideal sites for various housing designs. Further development and expansion allowed for the approval by the Mornington Peninsula Council of a stylish development of 15 town houses. |

HorizonsSafety Beach, VictoriaResidential Development Project managed A beachside estate designed with lifestyle in mind. Walkways connect the whole estate with a central park complete with children’s playground and shelter. Residents have formed several clubs and regularly organize social events. The estate has a remarkable community feel, and Safety Beach is now a sought-after address. Display homes were built in conjunction with AV Jennings. In 1999 Horizons won the Urban Development Institute of Australia (UDIA) President’s Award. |

Somerville Industrial ParkSomerville, VictoriaIndustrial Development Project managed acquisition, design and planning A site suitable for 29 town houses was split from the existing Somerville industrial area adjacent to an existing residential zone. There is an appropriate buffer between the industrial section and the newly created residential area. |

Northern ShoreCowes, Philip Island, VictoriaResidential Development Jointly project managed with MCA Accountants and Beveridge Northern Shore is only one block from the beautiful sands of Cowes beach. Its 125 lots sold in record time. A public open space contains a stand of remnant melaleucas, which form the backbone of the design. Extensive consultation and subsequent on-site surveys were conducted with both local aboriginal groups. Vegetation and street plants were chosen to provide food for the local koala population, and the carefully designed stormwater system collects and treats water before it flows into Westerport Bay. |

100 The CrescentTyabb, VictoriaResidential Development Project managed 100 The Crescent was developed on the site of an old service station. It comprises 15 well-designed villas in the village of Tyabb, which is well known as the antique centre of the Mornington Peninsula. The villas are within 50 metres of the local shops. |
